"We Be Doin It Up...Crooklyn style!"

This is an addition to my boy Knutz's post last week, bout the rap group known as the Crooklyn Dodgers. They are a group with rotating members that only exists within the scope of Spike Lee films. They were first assembled by Spike to do a cut for the soundtrack to his 1994 film Crooklyn, and it consisted of Buckshot, Masta Ace, and Special Ed. The track was called "Crooklyn" was produced by A Tribe Called Quest. The second group, called Crooklyn Dodgers 95' , created the song "Return of the Crooklyn Dodger" for Spike's 1995 movie Clockers. This group consisted of Chubb Rock, Jeru The Damaja, and O.C, along with a sizzling DJ Premier production. This track happens to be my personal favorite, especially the Jeru verse. Over 10 years later, ex Little Brother producer 9th Wonder resurrected the concept for his Dream Merchant Vol. II album in 2007, and his group consisted of Mos Def, Jean Grae, and Memphis Bleek. The song was entitled "Brooklyn In My Mind". Throughout the history of the Crooklyn Dodgers only one thing about it's members has remained constant, they have all been from Brooklyn. So Spike, thanks for keepin to your roots homie.
