"Forgetting that God is not religion, but spiritual bond"

My homie Morty McFly back in Paris sent me this a few days ago, and i was really taken aback. I've always been huge fan of Immortal Technique (especially for his knowledge of history and his revolutionary ideals) but to see him deliver the truth this straight up on Karmaloop TV (of all places) seriously impressed me. The existence of established religion, especially that of Christianity, is one that we often take for granted without really questioning it or educating ourselves as to how things became the way they were. HOw can we move forward if we don't understand history? Just some food for thought. Props to Morty and to Immortal for being so goddamn REAL.

Whose Who?

I came across one of these pictures a couple days ago and was like "GODDAMN!" that boy looks like Dave Chapelle. What do you guys think? The man in question (up to you to decide from the photos...) is an upcoming rapper from the ATL named B.o.B. You may have seen him gracing the cover of XXL Freshman issue with Wale (puttin D.C. on the map!), Charles Hamilton and Asher Roth (the latter of which i am not the hugest fan of...but ill reserve actual judgment on that until his album drops). B.o.B however, is super refreshing (like green tea!) and original. Cop his mixtape, it's called Who The Fuck is B.o.B?. Click HERE to download my favorite track from the aforementioned mixtape, called "I'll Be in The Sky".

The Ultimate Drunchies

I've been meaning to post this for a few weeks but it totally slipped my mind (for self-explanatory reasons, judging by the theme of the post). I finally figured out what my favorite drunk munchies are; Stacey's Simply Naked Pita Chips! No need for flavor other than the sea salt, Between the time i got home totally shit housed and the hangover started to go away i somehow managed to go through an ENTIRE Costco size bag of these. They're so delicious you dont even need extra flavor, but they are quite amazing with some Hummus. If you need further encouragement to try out this miracle of the culinary world then pcture this:Me, H-Man, drunk as a Russian gorging my face with Pita chips in bed, enjoying them as much as the Hof eating a cheeseburger on a hotel room floor (though my daughter wasn't nearby imploring me to stop drinking...). That work for ya? ;)

"Out on a Friday night, big smiles and flashing light..."

Wasssssssup, all apologies for the delay, i was in NYC all weekend to see my boy EQ and my boy MJ, who will both be helping out with a little Fresh Like Green Tea secret project for after the New Year. So today's post i LONG overdue, but i had told myself that i would not post until I had the photos of the event. My sister had them, and in true little sister fashion took forever to get them to me. As you probably know by glancing at them already, they are from the Little Brother show in DC that i went to with my lil' sis in October (see how long it took for the pics to be sent?!). It was such a great show, Alixe had never been to a legit small venue hip-hop show before (and heard of Little Brother before that night, blasphemy to some of our ears!) and was seriously impressed. Phonte and Big Pooh ROCKED the house (straight from the lips of Phonte himself, 'they say birds of the same feather flock together, well me and Big Pooh rock together"), along with a guest appearance from none other than Joe Scudda. He only had one verse but the crowd went bananas during its delivery. Phonte is seriously inspirational, so much charisma, told funny ass jokes at T-Pain's expense (which if you read Attack The Wakk you know im a fan of) and DAMN can that guy sing. Big Pooh held it down too, and even had his momma, who lives around here, come on stage and take a bow. The ended the set in the best possible way, by turning out all the lights and playing my favorite song, "When The Party's Over". I know the pictures of me with them are not nearly as thug as the one I have with Pusha, but i really did feel starstruck meeting them, which explains my goofy ass smile. Props to Ratgirl for finally allowing me to grace you folks with photographic evidence of a great night in the District.

"First class with the seat back I still see ya!"

Just peeped this while I was watching FX earlier today, such a fresh commercial, the music fits in perfectly. I do happen to be a huge Nip/Tuck fan as well, and am definitely happy to hear that new episodes are coming in January. However, this being said, and my affinity for Kanye tracks being well known, does anybody else think it's sort of ironic up that the song is in a show about COSMETIC SURGERY, considering that his mother died resulting from complications after undergoing a cosmetic surgery procedure? Nip/Tuck does acknowledge the dangers of cosmetic surgery (sometimes...) but it is always presented as a successful solution to any body problems. Just some food for thought...

Lose Your Life - The Alchemist ft. Snoop Dogg, Jadakiss, and Pusha-T

This video has been out for a while, but i somehow totally slept on it (I've had the songs for months and have loved it). I just watched it today and got kinda blown away. The animation immediately reminded me of Beavis and Butthead, but a more twisted (if you can believe it...haha) version on a bad acid trip or something. Jada murders his verse (pun completely intended), and as always, i thoroughly enjoyed Pusha's cocaine flow. It also reminds me of the 90's horror gore genre that was real popular. The track is off producer Alchemists new album, The Alchemist's Cookbook. I highly recommend it, especially this one craaaaazy cut featuring Evidence, Kid Cudi and Blu called "Therapy". The beat is simply mesmerizing...while we're on the subject of drugs (due to the somewhat disturbng nature of the video above), check out my sister blog Attack The Wakk for a brief discussion of anti-drug commercials...

"Unification of the DMV I Will Achieve Indeed..."

I know I'm a couple days late, but it's finally here! I present to you to the long awaited video from The Ambassador of Rap for The Capital himself, the D.C. anthem "Nike Boots". I been BUMPIN this song since it came out and have been impatiently waiting for the video. The performance part of the clip is shot at the Homecoming at Howard University earlier this year. I have also attached the remix to the song, off The Mixtape About Nothing, which co-stars none other than "call me by my new name, Featuring Lil' Wayne!" for you listening/downloading pleasure. I got maaaad love for Wale, I've been following his come-uo since the Hate is the New Love mixtape, and cannot wait his first LP to come out, supposedly in 09'!

H-man and Pusha-T!

Last night I attended the Clipse's new mixtape release/Play Cloths (their new clothing company) event at Commonwealth in DC. Free booze, mad people (the line went around the block..). The Clipse were supposed to make an appearance, Malice was a no show, but as you can see from the photo above, P to the Usha made it (two hours late and acting like he'd sniffed some of the product that he is so famous for baking). All in all it was mad cool, since the Clipse are from VA Beach, which is not too far from DC, so they sort of have a cult following in the DMV. Check out the photos below,an interview with Pusha at the event, and the link for the new mixtape . Also, check out the Play Cloths website, they're some awesome stuff. I can't fucking wait for Til The Casket Drops in 09'...

"Got You All In Check!"

Don't you miss crazy old Busta? Though i feel his music is better today than it was a few years ago, i do miss all the Woo-Ha-ing. I was just flippin through my iPod today and this song came on. This is from the period when Busta (pre Finding Forrester cameo, haha) truly started blowing up. At the time, this video was the most expensive music video ever produced, I remember being blown away by it when i was in like...7th grade. Props to Hype Williams, awesome video, but doesn't Janet look a wee bit dominatrix/creepy? But, regardless, it's a great track. Holla in the comments and lemme know what you all think.

"My Reign Is As Far As Your Eyes Can See..."

808s and Heartbreaks has been on repeat in my ear for the past 72 hours, its an "amazing" album (get the fuckin album for the reference, pun intended!) that really showcases Yeezy's creativity and versatility. The video is a the live performance in Singapore from which the last track on the album was recorded, entitled "Pinocchio Story". Hope he comes out with a studio version of it soon. For all you haters out there, don't hate what you dont understand...

"We Be Doin It Up...Crooklyn style!"

This is an addition to my boy Knutz's post last week, bout the rap group known as the Crooklyn Dodgers. They are a group with rotating members that only exists within the scope of Spike Lee films. They were first assembled by Spike to do a cut for the soundtrack to his 1994 film Crooklyn, and it consisted of Buckshot, Masta Ace, and Special Ed. The track was called "Crooklyn" was produced by A Tribe Called Quest. The second group, called Crooklyn Dodgers 95' , created the song "Return of the Crooklyn Dodger" for Spike's 1995 movie Clockers. This group consisted of Chubb Rock, Jeru The Damaja, and O.C, along with a sizzling DJ Premier production. This track happens to be my personal favorite, especially the Jeru verse. Over 10 years later, ex Little Brother producer 9th Wonder resurrected the concept for his Dream Merchant Vol. II album in 2007, and his group consisted of Mos Def, Jean Grae, and Memphis Bleek. The song was entitled "Brooklyn In My Mind". Throughout the history of the Crooklyn Dodgers only one thing about it's members has remained constant, they have all been from Brooklyn. So Spike, thanks for keepin to your roots homie.

"Maintain you M.I.N.D, ain't no way a credit card can replace your identity..."

Whatup my children of the rhyme? Im sure you all noticed that my Kanye West post from yesterday has been removed...its courtesy of the D.M.C.A, for more info check out my rant on Attack The Wakk. The post I bring to you today is very different. Thaddeus Puck (a.k.a Sven Carlson) is a homie of mine from high school in Moscow (that's right, i drink vodka by the liter bitches...) who happens to have the gift of the rhyme. He is fromStockholm, Sweden and goes to school at Nottingham in England, and just finished a year abroad in Montreal. He's been recording tracks for about two years, and i really got to give it up to him. Great lyrics, great delivery, and he even has some beats delivered to him by another old friend of mine, DJ Mephisto (a.k.a Dustin Webber), who is somewhere in Kansas i believe. I posted a couple of my favorites of Thaddeus tracks, im bettin on him to become the next Promoe...Big up Sven! Keep doin what you doin .

Gentleman

This is one of my favorite artists. Gentleman grew up in Köln on the Rhein river. He is the son of a preacher and became introduced to reggae music through his older brother. Already at the early age of 17 he traveled to Jamaica for the first time, to experience the base of this inspirational music. If any one has any doubt about the legitimacy of Gentleman as a reggae artist, watch the whole video of Gentleman as a youngster. This is no white boy reggae music, this goes beyond that.

Yes he is German, yes he comes from the Rheinland, yes he is an exceptional singer, but Gentleman is above all a strong conscious voice of our time. With so much negativity and insecurity in the world and many lyrics of today's music, both to me personally and to anyone who has been touched by his music he is a stronghold and inspiration. It is rather symbolic that he comes from Germany, the battleground of so much war in the past, to speak of universal love and peace through the most warm and heartfelt music of the world.

Even with a blessing to the world such has having President Barak Obama be the symbol at the head of America, it is still on us to right injustices we see in daily life. "A hungry man is an angry man" - Obama may be our president, but he is working for us, and if we want to live in a better and fairer world, we need to get the job done. "Its not about class color or races", its about setting an example to mankind that we can live in love for our neighbor, ourselves, and the entire world. If you got it, give some love and don't worry about getting some back. No doubt.

Foreign Beggars: "But all we ever do is sit back and smoke weed..."

Wanted to let y'all know about this London hip-hop group that i discovered while i was in Paris that is doooope. This is their last video (filmed in Paris) and it is a collaboration with French rap duo Rouge a Levres (which consists of Grems and Disiz la Peste). I was talking to Pavan the other other day, one of their MC's that goes by Orifice Vulgatron, and he told me that they were hard at work recording their new album, and even have a track with Guilty Simpson! Big up to Pavan, miss chillin out in Paris with him when he'd hop the pond to do a few shows in France. Check out some of my favorite tracks below. Also, suport them and check them out at their website foreignbeggars.com or at their label, dentedrecords.com.

The Love Parade when it was still Fresh (Oldschool Berlin)

Enjoy this video. Its vintage footage from love parades past. The love parade started in 1989 celebrating the demolition of the Berlin wall, and since then was a celebration of universal love. Unfortunately the festival lost lots of its flavor over the years and has been reduced to a massive techno rave, held no longer in Berlin, but beside the highways in middle Germany, simply to manage the techno pilgrim masses flocking in every year from around the world...

"I Slow Flow Y'allz to Death..."

Wassup, welcome to day 2 on freshlikegreentea. So right here im gonna do a little post bout one of my favorite MC's, Evidence. You may know him as a member of Dilated Peoples, but he also has a healthy solo rapping and producing career. The Layover EP is going to drop shortly, his first project since his debut project The Weatherman LP . Here is the newest video, for the Layover, as well as his latest track "For Whom the Bell Tolls" featuring Phonte from Little Brother, Blu and Will.i.am (thankfully sounding non-Black Eyed- Peas-ish). I also added my favorite video and track by Evidence (which are actually one my favorite tracks and videos period!); Mr. Slow Flow. "I can smoke a whole eighth in a spliff, some call that a problem but i call it a gift." Enjoy, and keep it fresh.

Standin on Dirty Acres Feelin Goddamn Filthy...

To kick this blog off, I'm gonna start with a post with what inspires me most in this world: music. Last weekend i had the rare privilege of attending a concert by Cunninlynguists in Herndon, Virginia. Long story short, the promotion for the show must have been pretty shitty, only about 40 people showed up at the show. Nevertheless, they came and lit the stage up like it was a sold out stadium. It was a great show, and to top it off, they were some seriously real guys. Big thanks to Natti, Kno and Deacon for putting on a tip-top performance and inspiring me for the next few weeks. Check out the links for my favorite track. "K.K.K.Y, is more than what you think it is, it aint just tobacco, some bourbon and where horse racing lives".
